Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning Strategy
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning works to enable low-income citizens to access adequate social housing services, in accordance with the housing standards specified in laws and regulations. This is achieved through housing projects implemented by the Ministry and housing programs developed in partnership with the private sector, guided by the orders and directives of the wise leadership and the respected government, and in line with the objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
The Ministry's methodology for providing housing services and solutions is based on three main tracks to provide sustainable housing services to citizens, as follows:
Housing Financing Programs
It includes innovative financing options, named "Tasheel+" and "Tasheel" with its three types of financing (Tasheel Taawoun, Tasheel Al-Bayt Al-Oud, and Tasheel Aqari), in addition to continuing to provide "Mazaya" and "Mazaya (the New Category)" financing. The innovative housing options are characterized by the immediate provision of housing services to citizens without waiting periods.
Government Land Development Rights Program (GLDP)
It is one of the strategic directions of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to provide social housing projects in partnership with the private sector, and to increase the real estate stock, which contributes to diversifying the options for citizens benefiting from one of the housing options.
The idea of the program is based on offering government lands through a public auction system to real estate developers in the Kingdom, to build social housing units at competitive prices, provided that the real estate developer, after completing the implementation of the project and selling all units, pays the value of the government land on which the project is implemented.
Continue Implementing Housing Projects
The Ministry continues its plans to implement unit, voucher, and residential apartment projects in Salman City, Khalifa City, Al Hidd Housing City, Sitra Housing City, and Al Ramli Suburb, in addition to residential complexes.
The Ministry is currently implementing the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, to present alternative solutions and options for those with old housing applications for
the year 2004 and before. Alternative solutions for obtaining housing includes the following options:
- The first option is to allocate a housing plot supported by funding from the "Tasheel" program worth 40 thousand dinars, with the housing monthly allowance continuing to be disbursed to beneficiaries for two years from the date of benefiting.
- The second option is to provide a residential apartment for beneficiaries with a financial grant of 3,000 dinars, and a two-year exemption from maintenance fees for common areas with the Beneficiaries Union.
- The third option is to grant beneficiaries the maximum funding for the "Tasheel" program, estimated at 70 thousand dinars, supported by a grant of 10 thousand dinars.
