Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Eskan Bank, and Mr. Abdullah Taleb, General Manager of Eskan Bank, participated in "Tree Week" activities by planting a number of trees at Eskan Bank's Northern Waterfront Project in Salman City. The initiative supports the National Action Plan for Carbon Neutrality announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi highlighted the importance of "Tree Week", launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in supporting national efforts to expand green spaces and promote a culture of tree planting. She emphasised the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning's commitment to continuing its contribution to these efforts by prioritising afforestation and green spaces within housing cities and projects, thereby supporting the objectives of the National Afforestation Plan and strengthening the integration of environmental considerations into urban development.

Her Excellency explained that green spaces are among the key components the Ministry considers when planning and developing residential communities, alongside infrastructure, facilities, and services. This approach contributes to creating integrated residential environments that take urban, environmental, and social dimensions into account.

She added that the Ministry's efforts include developing green spaces and open areas and ensuring their integration with community facilities and services across housing cities and projects. She reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to adopting practices that achieve a balance between urban development requirements and the preservation of the environment and natural resources.

Her Excellency noted that the Ministry's participation in "Tree Week" activities supports the objectives of the National Afforestation Plan, which aims to double the number of trees in the Kingdom of Bahrain to 3.6 million by 2035. She stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among government entities, private sector organisations, and civil society institutions in sustaining tree-planting initiatives and expanding green spaces.

For his part, Mr. Abdullah Taleb, General Manager of Eskan Bank, affirmed that the Bank's participation in "Tree Week" reflects its continued commitment to contributing to environmental initiatives associated with the projects it develops. He noted that planting trees at the Northern Waterfront Project in Salman City demonstrates the importance placed on integrating green spaces into the project's components and surrounding urban environment.

He further highlighted Eskan Bank's continued cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and relevant entities in supporting initiatives that incorporate environmental considerations into development projects, contributing to the expansion and long-term sustainability of green spaces.
