Her Excellency Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, confirmed the continued progress of construction work in the units of the Sitra City Housing Project, as the completion rate of construction work in the second phase of the project, which consists of 531 housing units, reached 90%, while the completion rates in infrastructure work for the same phase reached 80%, which reflects the progress of the project according to the timetable set for it.
As for the third phase of the project, which includes the implementation of 1,269 housing units, the completion rates exceeded 10%, which is the percentage nominated for progress during the next phase according to the timetable for implementing this phase, which is the largest phase in terms of the number of units in the housing city, and the last in the implementation phases of the Sitra Housing City project. The Ministry had previously delivered all the units of the first phase, which includes 1,077 housing units In addition to delivering housing vouchers for the project to beneficiaries.
This came during the field visit made by Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning to Sitra Housing City, to follow up on the progress of work in the stages of constructing housing units in the second and third phases, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in projects to provide secondary infrastructure services in the presence of a number of officials in the Ministry, and the engineering and technical team.
Minister Amna Al Rumaihi explained during the visit that the work methodology followed by the Ministry in implementing the phases of Sitra Housing City in cooperation with the Chinese company "CMEC" is based on the synchronization of the implementation of infrastructure service provision projects with construction works, ensuring the rapid delivery of housing units and vouchers to beneficiaries immediately after the completion rates are completed. This is the same methodology that was applied in the first phase and the housing voucher project Which was delivered immediately after the completion of construction work.
The Minister also pointed out that the second and third phases are witnessing the implementation of an advanced design for residential units, inspired by citizens' comments during questionnaires conducted earlier by the Ministry. A number of units in the two phases have also been designed to suit people with special needs, praising the efforts and cooperation of the Chinese company "CMEC" in implementing all phases of the project, and the continuous response to the Ministry's comments and the development requirements that are constantly being applied.
Minister Al Rumaihi noted that the development witnessed by the Sitra Housing City project in terms of completion rates confirms the government's keenness to quickly provide housing for citizens, whether through completing the implementation of housing city projects, or through financing options and partnership programs with the private sector that provide immediate housing solutions, noting that the Sitra Housing City project is a fundamental pillar among the projects included for implementation in the government's program 2023-2026 The state's general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2025-2026.
It is worth noting that the Sitra Housing City project is one of the main projects that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is working to implement, within a modern residential environment that provides various basic services and community facilities, including schools, health and commercial centers, mosques and parks, in a way that enhances the stability of the Bahraini family.
