Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), and in the presence of Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, member of SCW, the "Masaken 2" housing project in Hidd City was inaugurated.

The opening ceremony was attended by Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of SCW, a number of members of the Council, and several officials.

HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa delivered a speech on behalf of the Supreme Council for Women, conveying HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim’s appreciation to the Ministry of Housing for its efforts in advancing projects that enhance the security and stability of Bahraini families.

HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa noted that these efforts reflect the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure women’s access to housing services, an essential right for every Bahraini citizen, aligned with the government programme (2023–2026) focused on innovative housing solutions for all.

HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa noted the initiative of the Supreme Council for Women and its role in the issuance of Decision (12) of 2004 regarding the right of Bahraini women to benefit from housing services, which granted custodial and financially responsible women the right to apply for housing services. She emphasised that the inauguration of the Masaken (2) project in  Hidd, dedicated to enabling Bahraini women to benefit from housing services, comes after the successful experience of the first Masaken project in Al Lawzi, Hamad Town, which was inaugurated in 2016.

HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa said that the Masaken project is one of the qualitative initiatives aimed at supporting Bahraini women and enhancing their family and living stability, within the framework of the strong partnership between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Supreme Council for Women in implementing national plans for the advancement of Bahraini women. She expressed the Council’s aspiration to expand the Masaken project by launching similar housing projects for this category in all governorates of the Kingdom.

On her part, Al Rumaihi expressed the Ministry’s pride in the continuous support of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim for programmes that support and empower Bahraini women. She noted that the "Masaken 2" project represents a continuation of initiatives aimed at providing modern and suitable housing options for female citizens.

Al Rumaihi said that all works related to the "Masaken 2" project in Hidd City have been fully completed, including construction, facilities, associated services, and infrastructure. She underscored that the project is ready to move to the allocation phase according to the planned schedule, ensuring the provision of innovative housing options that meet the needs of Bahraini women.

She noted that the Ministry has provided Bahraini women with more than 6,555 housing and financing services since 2011, including home ownership services, housing financing, and the rental allowance programme.

During the inauguration, HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa, accompanied by the Minister of Housing and the SCW Secretary General, conducted a field tour of the project facilities. The engineering team provided a detailed explanation of the design of the residential apartments, architectural components, and technical services accompanying the building, including security systems, multipurpose halls, and facilities prepared for persons with special needs.

The "Masaken 2" project features a modern residential building consisting of four floors, housing 49 apartments with well-studied layouts suitable for the needs of Bahraini women, in addition to a ground floor designated for services and facilities.

The architectural design ensures a safe and comfortable residential environment through wide entrances, modern elevators, integrated security systems, and designated parking for residents and visitors.

The project also includes multipurpose community facilities and shared spaces that enhance social cohesion, as well as architectural solutions that allow for the merging of apartments when needed and facilities designed for persons with special needs. Together, these features make the project a contemporary model of adequate housing standards.
