Her Excellency Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, received Patrick Canagasingham, Director of the Regional Programmes Division at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in the presence of Eng. Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat, Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, on the sidelines of the Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition 2026.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of topics of mutual interest and exchanged views on the development of the social housing sector, the integration of urban planning with services and infrastructure, and the role of partnerships and innovative solutions in building sustainable residential communities and enhancing quality of life.
Her Excellency the Minister underscored the importance of benefiting from international experiences and expertise in developing housing initiatives and exchanging practices that contribute to meeting housing needs and keeping pace with urban development requirements.
For his part, Patrick Canagasingham, Director of the Regional Programmes Division at UN-Habitat, highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences in the field of social housing and exploring solutions that combine integrated planning with effective partnerships, contributing to the development of sustainable residential communities that respond to residents’ needs.
